| Q. What
exactly IS pornography? |
A.
The depiction of erotic
behavior (as in pictures, writing, books, or
simulated erotic behavior) intended to cause sexual
excitement.
|
| Q. Aren't
PORN sites supposed to verify age before allowing people
to view their material? |
A.
Of the 420 MILLION adult
web sites online only about 3% require "Age
Verification". They usually do this with a credit card.
If you're old enough to have a credit card, you're old
enough to view porn. A child can access the sites by
using a parents credit card unknowingly.
|
| Q. Are men
the largest group of viewers of pornography? |
A.
NO! The largest group of
viewers of Internet pornography are teen boys ages
12-18. They are also the ones who become addicted faster
than any other group. In reality, porn peddlers target
this group of viewers because they know it will produce
a steady stream of income for years to come.
|
| Q. Is there
a difference between "sex" addiction and "porn"
addiction? |
A.
Sexual addiction is best
described as a progressive intimacy disorder
characterized by compulsive sexual thoughts and acts or
an obsession with sex with a negative impact on the
addict and family members. Pornography often fuels an
addiction to sex. Pornography supplies the material
needed to produce the fantasies a sex addict deals with.
In marriage restoration ministry many women report that
their spouse's are unable to "give up" pornography or
are obsessed with looking at pornographic materials.
|
| Q. They say
that Pornography is a victimless crime. Is it?
|
A.
Considering that in a
marital situation where a spouse is looking at porn, the
wife is the victim of his "mental or emotional"
betrayal. Intimacy is reserved for the marriage partner.
Additionally, the stress and emotional turmoil this
addiction causes takes away from family which then makes
children the victim, not to mention the embarrassment
factor that ALL families feel in this situation. Illegal
child porn victimizes minor children and even the actors
that CHOOSE to participate are victims as they are being
exploited in disgusting ways for a pay check. So my
answer to that question is NO it is not victimless...
everyone pays a price.
|
| Q. Can a
marriage invaded by porn be saved? |
| A.
ABSOLUTELY! It's a lot of
hard work but it can be done. Visit the
MarriagePORNvasion
section of our web site or read more in the
"Protecting Those You Love In AN X-Rated World" book
which has an in depth section on marriage resources.
